SUMMARY:Mastering the Requirements Process
DESCRIPTION:Course Duration: 2 days (Virtual\, Live Online)Cost: £995 + VAT (£1\,194) — save £100 by registering by 13th September. Full details below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAgile or traditional\, unless the product solves the right business problem\, it has no use. Your requirements process must discover the customer’s real needs in all their subtlety and concealment. \n\n\n\nThis workshop presents a thorough and well-established process for uncovering the real requirements\, testing them for correctness\, and recording them clearly\, completely and unambiguously. The process is used by both agile and traditional projects. \n\n\n\nThis workshop shows you how to precisely define the scope of the business problem\, to discover and involve the appropriate stakeholders\, to use prototyping and other modern techniques to learn what the business really needs\, to innovate and find better ways to do the work\, to communicate effectively and to write testable\, unambiguous requirements and stories. \n\n\n\nYou can book directly using the link below. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nVideo Overview\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nYou Will Learn How to:\n\n\n\n✔️ Determine the real needs of your client✔️ Uncover the essence of the business and its real requirements✔️ Use prototypes and sketches to discover hidden needs✔️ Write requirements that are complete\, unambiguous\, and testable✔️ Write agile stories that are more effective and accurate✔️ Understand the role of the business analyst in agile projects✔️ Use a story map for more controlled development✔️ Understand the need for (and how to write) both functional and non-functional requirements✔️ Precisely define the scope of the project✔️ Get the requirements quickly\, and incrementally ✔️ Discover the right requirements and stories \n\n\n\nIs This for Me?\n\n\n\nYes\, if you want to be involved in delivering the right systems—the ones that get used. Your title is probably business analyst\, systems analyst\, product owner\, project leader or manager\, requirements engineer\, consultant\, product or program manager or similar. Team members on agile projects benefit from understanding how requirements are done in agile projects. \n\n\n\nUsers\, software customers and business stakeholders have found that this course equips them to participate more effectively in the requirements process\, and so ensure that the end solution matches what they really need. \n\n\n\nWhat Will I learn? What Will I be Better at?\n\n\n\nThe Requirements ProcessA quick look at the activities of finding the right requirements\, and a short workshop to illustrate the problem. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject BlastoffThe Blastoff builds a foundation for the requirements project by establishing its Scope-Stakeholder-Goals. It gives you the precise scope of the business area to be studied; a testable goal for the project; and using stakeholder maps\, you identify all the sources of requirements. Additionally\, the Blastoff ensures the project is viable and worthwhile. \n\n\n\nTrawling for RequirementsWe show you the most effective techniques to discover exactly what the customers need\, and want. \n\n\n\nThis section introduces the essence of the problem\, how to see the real need and not some assumed solution. It also introduces the brown cow model that gives the business analyst different ways of thinking about the problem\, and allows the real problem to emerge. \n\n\n\nPrototyping for RequirementsHere we use simulations of candidate solutions to explore the problem space\, determine that we are solving the right problem\, and find imaginative solutions. Multiple candidates are quickly produced which eliminate the assumed solution and provide the right direction for the product. \n\n\n\nFunctional RequirementsFunctional requirements are those things the product must do. You discover them by understanding the real work of the organisation\, and determining what part of that work the automated product can best do. The automated product is specified using well-formed functional requirements. \n\n\n\nNon-functional RequirementsNon-functional requirements are properties the product must have\, such as the desired look and feel\, usability\, performance\, cultural\, conformance\, and so on. This section demonstrates the importance of discovering the non-functional requirements\, and shows you how to use the template\, and other methods\, to find these qualitative requirements for your product. \n\n\n\nRequirements for Agile ProjectsRequirements are equally important for agile projects\, but you go about them differently if your solution is to match the real business needs. Effective agile projects understand that there are two parts: Discovery and Delivery. Discovery involves understanding the real work and the real problem to be solved to deliver the value proposition. It uses business stories to communicate the Discovery findings. Delivery focuses on development of the product and here we see how a story map provides the best guide to the product under development. We also demonstrate how to write better\, more effective stories.  \n\n\n\nYour Requirements ProcessYou discuss and determine how to make your own requirements process as effective and efficient as possible. This involves incorporating your own organisational processes into the requirements activities. You build a demonstration of how you will use what you have learned when your return to your own workplace. \n\n\n\nWorkshops\n\n\n\nWe want you to use this right away. Each of the key teaching chapters is reinforced with a workshop where you apply the concepts presented in the seminar. Participants work in teams to discover\, specify and evaluate requirements for a significant system by: \n\n\n\n✔️ Defining the project’s scope\, its goals and the relevant stakeholders✔️ Identifying business events\, business use cases and product use cases✔️ Evaluating candidate prototypes to find hidden requirements✔️ Defining functional and non-functional requirements✔️ Writing better stories✔️ Deriving the fit criterion\, or measurement\, for the requirements \n\n\n\nThere’s More . . . \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n✔️ Your instructor is not an “announcer”. He or she is a practicing business analyst who is also an excellent instructor.   \n\n\n\n✔️ The course is written to show real-world situations and provide real-world solutions. You will be able to relate your own work situation to the course. \n\n\n\n✔️ You can discuss your own requirements issues with your instructor. \n\n\n\n✔️ The course teaches that requirements come from understanding the business and its internal processes\, and how the business interacts with its external customers. \n\n\n\n✔️ The course provides a realistic framework for requirements discovery\, not a strict methodology. The framework provides the freedom and encouragement to discover new approaches to requirements. \n\n\n\n✔️ The techniques are applicable regardless of your development method – traditional or agile. \n\n\n\n✔️ Teaching chapters are reinforced with hands-on workshops. \n\n\n\n✔️ You receive the Volere Requirements Specification Template (downloaded over 20\,000 times) with advice on how to make this your own template. \n\n\n\n✔️ You’ll also receive electronic access to Suzanne and James Robertson’s acclaimed book Mastering the Requirements Process –Getting Requirements Right. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCost\n\n\n\nRateConditionsPriceEarlybirdUntil 13th September 2026£895 + VAT(£1074 inc VAT)StandardFrom 14th September 2026£995 + VAT(£1194 inc VAT)

SUMMARY:Every Requirement Is a Negotiation with Christelle Govender
DESCRIPTION:Business analysts negotiate every day\, often without realising it. Whether navigating competing stakeholder priorities\, challenging a proposed solution\, managing scope\, or bridging the gap between business expectations and technical realities\, much of business analysis comes down to having the right conversations. \n\n\n\nInspired by Chris Voss’s Never Split the Difference\, this session explores how negotiation techniques such as tactical empathy\, mirroring\, labelling\, calibrated questions and uncovering ‘Black Swans’ can be adapted to everyday business analysis. \n\n\n\nUsing a real-life BA experience\, Christelle will show how these techniques can help navigate difficult stakeholder conversations\, uncover what sits behind a stated requirement\, challenge assumptions and find a way forward when business and technology do not immediately agree. \n\n\n\nThe session offers a practical BA perspective on Voss’s negotiation principles\, with techniques attendees can apply in their own workshops\, discovery sessions and stakeholder engagements. \n\n\n\nUltimately\, the session invites us to reconsider what negotiation looks like in business analysis. SUMMARY:When Artificial Intelligence Meets Business Analysis Intelligence with Anurita Ruscoe
DESCRIPTION:AI can summarise a hundred pages in seconds\, categorise messy information\, identify patterns and suggest options. It can help us make sense of complexity faster than ever before. But making sense of a problem is not the same as solving it. \n\n\n\nAs AI becomes part of everyday business analysis\, much of the conversation has focused on productivity: how BAs can use AI to work faster and handle increasing amounts of information. That is certainly part of the opportunity\, but it is only half the story. \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, we’ll explore the relationship between AI and business analysis from two directions. \n\n\n\nFirst\, we’ll look at how AI can help BAs turn complexity into manageable work. It can help us structure and categorise information\, spot patterns\, challenge our thinking and cut through the noise. Yet bringing structure to a complex situation is not the same as deciding what should be done about it. Context\, curiosity\, critical thinking\, stakeholder understanding and human judgement still matter. \n\n\n\nThen we’ll turn the question around. As organisations look for opportunities to introduce AI\, how can BAs help them navigate the technology sensibly? This means getting beneath proposed AI solutions to understand the real business need\, defining the outcomes and value being sought\, exploring the impact on people and processes\, considering risk and asking an important question that can easily get overlooked: is AI actually the right answer? \n\n\n\nAI can help the BA navigate complexity. The BA can help the organisation navigate AI. \n\n\n\nJoin us to explore what happens when Artificial Intelligence meets Business Analysis Intelligence\, and what that could mean for the evolving role of the BA. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnurita Ruscoe was a finalist for the BA of the Year Award 2025 and Founder of The Business Analyst Confidence Studio\, which empowers BAs to lead with confidence\, influence\, and purpose. She leads a team of BAs and is passionate about redefining the profession in an AI-driven world. \n\n\n\nLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/anuritaruscoe

SUMMARY:The Persuasion Playbook with Nick de Voil
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to be more effective at getting your proposals heard in the organisation? Are you sometimes frustrated at the way illogical or weak arguments seem to carry the day instead? Do you ever wonder why some people seem to be more effective at playing this game than others? \n\n\n\nEnter the Persuasion Playbook. \n\n\n\nThis session will demystify some of the techniques that are used by effective exponents of the art of persuasion in organisations. Nick will use a wide range of examples to illustrate both the theory of how persuasion happens and\, more importantly\, the practice – what works and what doesn’t. \n\n\n\nKey Takeaways: \n\n\n\n✔️ When is a reasoned\, data-driven explanation effective – and when isn’t it?✔️ What techniques will opponents of your recommendations use – and how can you counter them?✔️ How can you prepare effectively for conflict \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNick de Voil is a consultant business analyst\, user experience architect and service designer with four decades of experience in helping organisations to design and evaluate digital systems\, products and services. SUMMARY:Beyond "One-Size-Fits-All": Creating a Neuro-Inclusive Culture with Emily King
DESCRIPTION:Around one in seven people in the UK are neurodivergent\, yet many business analysis practices still follow a one-size-fits-all approach that overlooks the diverse thinking styles within our teams. Expectations of fast processing\, strong working memory\, and constant context switching can limit contributions from neurodivergent stakeholders and create significant challenges for neurodivergent BAs. As a result\, organisations miss out on the valuable insight and creativity diverse thinking brings. \n\n\n\nDrawing on her lived experience as a neurodivergent BA\, Emily shares practical neuro-inclusive adjustments to unlock diverse thinking strengths\, along with strategies that support well-being and performance for neurodivergent BAs. Attendees leave with useful techniques they can apply to improve collaboration in everyday work. \n\n\n\nKey Takeaways: ✔️ Confident recognition and removal of hidden barriers in BA activities. ✔️ Techniques for designing and facilitating effective neuro-inclusive workshops. ✔️ Practical adjustments to make written and verbal communication more accessible. ✔️ Strategies to navigate and manage challenges neurodivergent BAs commonly face. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmily King is an IT Business Analyst at Novuna\, specialising in inclusive communication and neurodiversity advocacy. She has delivered internal awareness sessions\, communication workshops and has presented at the Novuna IT Conference. \n\n\n\nAs a late-diagnosed neurodivergent person\, she is committed to creating a culture where different thinking styles are recognised and celebrated. This will be her first time presenting at an external conference\, marking a meaningful milestone in her personal and professional growth. She hopes her experience will encourage and inspire others who may face similar challenges.
